Kanata Theatre promises to raise the roof of the playhouse
with the 4th play of the season - Caught in the
Net - opening this Tuesday night with a Champagne Reception
at 7:30 pm and Curtain at 8:00 pm sharp.
This thoroughly funny and modern farce promises to have
audiences laughing right from the very start through to the
final side-splitting seconds. The frenetic action of the
play has been carefully choreographed by director, Rosemary
Keneford, who is top of her game in the genre of farce, and
will take place on the 7-door complex set, masterfully
designed by local Interior Designer, Susan Phillips.
John Smith, played by Brooke Keneford, is married to both
Mary Smith played by Jenefer Haynes and Barbara Smith played
by Susan Monaghan. For the past eighteen years John Smith
has successfully kept these two women from being aware of
each other. His life becomes a barrage of wild mishaps and
comic calamities when his two teenage children, one from
each marriage (Jon Matthews and Natasha Bourk-Wilson) meet
over the Internet and are blown away by the similarities of
their fathers. They are bound and determined to meet each
other and the fun and mayhem that ensues will have the
audience rolling in their seats as John Smith falls about
trying to keep them apart.
John enlists the help of his best friend Stanley Gardner,
played by Barry Caiger, to thwart loves young lust. The
characters become magnificently entwined in a web of juicy
lies and deceit. So much effort is put into keeping these
two teenagers from meeting that anything that could go wrong
definitely does go wrong.
