| Kanata Theatre began
in 1968 as a play reading group in the sleepy bedroom
community of Kanata. At that time Kanata consisted of only
a handful of houses, one public school, two gas stations,
a post office and an A&P grocery store.
Over the years this group of
enthusiastic thespians has grown to include over 250
members from as far away as California, Britain and Egypt.
We have presented over 110 major productions, countless children's
plays, two musicals, and a few original plays.
After years of fundraising we
were able to open our own facility, the Ron Maslin
Playhouse opened with our production of The Importance of
Being Earnest by Oscar Wilde. Now our playhouse is
in its second phase with the addition of more
rehearsal space, completed in Fall 2001.
