From the program for Happy Birthday Dear Alice: GWEN KNIGHT is a founding member and a former President of Kanata Theatre. She has acted, directed, produced and worked backstage in countless productions over the past 38 years. Several years ago, she directed the hilarious Sylvia, and in 2003 directed The Snow Ball for which she won the Capital Critics Circle Award for Best Director in Community Theatre. Last season she directed The Beauty Queen of Leenane. In the past, she acted and directed extensively with the Ottawa Little Theatre. Together with her husband, Peter Jefferson, who has designed the set for this production and frequently serves as co-director, and her daughter Sheryne Lalonde who, once again, has acted as her assistant, Gwen has a team in place that she credits for her successful productions. From the program for Cat on a Hot Tin Roof: GWEN KNIGHT (Big Mama) is a founding member of Kanata Theatre. She has acted, directed, produced and worked backstage in countless productions over the past 39 years. This play marks her return to the stage after a six year hiatus in which she directed The Stillborn Lover, The Snow Ball (for which she won the Capital Critics Circle Award for Best Director in Community Theatre), The Beauty Queen of Leenane and, earlier this season, Happy Birthday Dear Alice.
