Kanata Theatre’s 40th Season Kicks Off With a Bang

The first play to kick off the 40th season is called “Leading Ladies”, written by Ken Ludwig &
directed by Peter Williams, who has been part of Kanata Theatre since 1971. This play is a hilarious
comedy surrounding two down on their luck Shakespearean actors, Leo & Jack, played by Mark
Linder & Andrew Williams respectively. These two struggling thespians have a very limited wardrobe
of costumes, so their careers have sunk to only being able to perform snippets of the bard’s work.
These struggling actors feel that their luck is all about to change when they read that a very
wealthy elderly lady residing in York, PA, is on her deathbed and wants to bequeath two thirds of
her massive fortune to her estranged relations “Max & Steve”. Leo and Jack, see this opportunity
as an acting gig of a lifetime with a very profi table payoff. There is only one fl y in the ointment
– “Max & Steve” happen to be nicknames for Maxine & Stephanie. Determined to strike it rich, Leo
and Jack masquerade as women by squeezing into a couple of frocks in order to lay claim to their

Leading Ladies is an extremely amusing show that will have you laughing in your seats as these
two coarse men try to fumble their way into world of delicate femininity.
Leading ladies runs from September 16 to September 27/08, with blackout days on
Sunday & Monday. Tickets will be $15.00 each & curtain is 8pm sharp. Advanced tickets
