Tony Bryant honoured

by Earl McLaughlin

On Friday afternoon, May 20th, the section of the Trans-Canada Trail between Stittsville Main Street and Carleton Place was dedicated in the name of A.W. (Tony) Bryant, a former member and treasurer of Kanata Theatre.

Councillor Janet Stavinga, Golubourn Ward, City of Ottawa, officiated at the unveiling of a plaque honouring Tony for his work with the Ottawa-Carleton Trailway Community Committee in conjunction with the Nepean-Kanata Rotary Club. I participated by reading a biography of Tony, while other participants spoke of their memories of Tony in the Royal Canada Air Force, the Rotary Club, and his work within the Trailway Committee.

It was  proud day for Elsie Bryant and their sons Peter and Roger. Members of Kanata Theatre will recall Elsie as one of the Properties team in the recent Caught in the Net and in many previous productions. The unveiling ceremony was followed by a reception.
