arolyn has hired a midwife to help with the imminent birth of her first child in her drafty rural home in midwinter. Her father and mother are due for dinner at the precise time the first labour pains are felt. Dad is a noted gynecologist with the settled belief that a well equipped hospital is where births, especially that of his first grandchild, should occur. Modern medicine meets midwifery head on in this funny and heartwarming comedy.
